Conceptual Studies Nos. 2 and 3 was a collaborative installation at Fabrication Studios, Dallas TX, for Art Walk West in 2017. During our initial walk-thru of the warehouse, we saw a red dodge ball and a yellow and blue spray-painted wooden cube sitting in the corner. We immediately thought of Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari, two of our conceptual art heroes (who stole all our great ideas) and wanted to respond to both the space and its detritus, which we put on a pedestal and turned into art. The black and white photographs are of other warehouses in the neighborhood, and the color photographs, by Devyn Gaudet, were reimagined with a red dot covering up lens flare, which was the reason the photos had never been printed before.
