21st Century Sainthood addresses the nature of the photographic image and its magical generation, from Snapchat to Polaroid prints, lifting multiple emulsions, and then scanning the piece to return my newly created image back to the digital realm before executing another physical print. The final prints themselves, large in scale, allude to religious iconography depicted in stained glass, on tapestries, and banners, even if the saints are patrons of some silly ideas. The absurdity of worshipping humankind juxtaposed with the need for more earthly saints to “be what we want to see in the world,” creates a new spiritual dialog with photographic representation at its heart.
